Incentives

Cane Commitment provides a virtual roadmap for you to start your experiential learning journey at the University of Miami. By attending new events and getting involved in different experiences, you will become more familiar with resources on campus and find ways to get involved in various leadership opportunities. Through these experiences, you will develop important competencies that go beyond your four-year degree and provide a transforming educational experience that enhances well-being and work engagement throughout life.

  • LinkedIn Badges

Cane Commitment offers badges for all three levels in our six competencies. Each level you complete earns you a badge on LinkedIn. This gives you an opportunity to earn badges in eighteen different levels in each competency. For more information on how to share the badge you’ve earned on your LinkedIn profile, please click here.

  • Your Scorecard

Our platform offers you access to a scorecard that highlights your milestones and progress in each competency. We recommend you upload your picture and update the ‘About Me’ section. Your scorecard will also serve as a portfolio that archives all of the work you submit. Make sure to log in weekly and check out the different opportunities to get connected on campus and continue building on your accomplishments!

  • Experiential Learning Record

The experiential learning record details all of the activities you have completed throughout your Cane Commitment journey. This document downloads at any time as a PDF file along with all the items that live in your virtual portfolio. You can use this to help articulate your involvements and accomplishments during your undergraduate career. The report also highlights the competencies that were developed based on your engagement. It is an excellent tool to use for graduate school applications or job interviews.

Find more information here on how you can download your experiential learning record.

  • Graduation Medal

Completing levels in Cane Commitment means you are actively working to develop new skills and competencies. We want to acknowledge the efforts associated with these accomplishments by awarding a graduation medal along with some of our program swag.

You must complete all three levels of one competency in order to be awarded the graduation medal. The deadline to achieve all three levels in a single competency is April 30th. Those who have met the requirements will be contacted the first week of May to arrange a time to pick it up.
